Shrewsbury Little League runs entirely on volunteers. Here are some current opportunities for getting involved.
The equipment and inventory manager oversees the program's physical assets across all divisions — from pre-season procurement and setup through seasonal assignments and post-season returns. This is primarily an administrative and organizational role concentrated at the beginning and end of each season.
What you'll do
Conduct an equipment audit at the close of each season, particularly after fall, to assess condition and identify procurement needs for the following season. Manage purchasing within program guidelines — coordinating smaller purchases directly with the treasurer and bringing larger requests to the LL board for approval. Assign one catcher gear set per team across the three older divisions at the start of each season, and collect all sets at the end of the fall season for winter cleaning and storage regardless of coach continuity. Maintain accurate records through the program's inventory system.
What we're looking for
Someone organized and detail-oriented who is comfortable managing physical inventory and a modest budget. Familiarity with basic spreadsheet or web-based tools is helpful. No specialized sports knowledge required — this role is about logistics and follow-through more than softball expertise.
Time commitment
Approximately 2–4 hours per week during peak windows in October through November and again in March through April. Minimal commitment otherwise. The catcher gear seasonal cycle is the most involved part of the role but very manageable with good organization.
